Why in Pokemon fire red and leaf green and emerald, can't you trade other generations to before the elite four
In ruby and sapphire, you could trade eggs with pokemon you bred and play the game with pokemon from first and second generation. In leaf green fire red and emerald, you cant trade eggs or other pokemon until you get to the islands. I think this makes the game a whole lot less fun and sort of restricts the amount of pokemon you can use. Hopefully they dont make diamond pearl like this. Tell me what you think the creators reasons were behind this?
the pokemon that are already in the game are put there as they are (including % of meeting them) balanced as well as they can.
imagine if you will, that you just started a file on pokemon gold, and you caught a few rattatas, and then traded them for eggs that had five pokemon that are way overpowered for the game. it will make the game easier.
while you might say "gosh, man, my goal is to raise the best, not to struggle through the game." you have to realize that training and breeding are actually not part of the game, but are more of a ...side quest, if you will.
also, as far as i've read, in dia/pearl, there are things you must do in order to upload pokemon from 3rd gen to 4th gen.
also, the very quests it requires to allow one to trade with leaf/fire give you something to do. also, colosseum is an option to trade certain ones into your teams on ruby/sapphire.
anyway, to answer what i think is your actual question: why this wasn't something that worked in ruby/sapphire. i think they didn't think about it yet, that's all. then while they made fire/leaf they added it in, and i rather like it, it's not that bad.
